About BFW

A homecoming platform built for Black family.

We are a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization that teams up with various San José State University (SJSU) and other local organizations to provide inclusive, enjoyable Black Family Weekend experiences for current and future SJSU students, alumni, faculty/staff, and the surrounding communities.

Black Family Weekend provides a sense of community and camaraderie among many local organizations, SJSU students, alumni, faculty, and staff from across the country. Bringing these groups together around fun social activities once a year provides opportunities to network around job and family resources, community service, and educational engagements.

Some alumni bring their children who will soon be entering college to give them a taste of college life — directly supporting new student acquisition efforts.

We create memorable Black Family Weekend reunions.
